Public Relations Goal:

  • Mr. Thurman, CEO of Yard Talk 101, engaged our services, intending to reach 10,000 followers by the brand's first anniversary. We were brought on board six months before the anniversary date to develop a strategy to rapidly grow the brand's social media presence and achieve the desired follower count within the allotted timeframe.

Our Strategy:

  • In just three months, we worked with Yard Talk to develop a comprehensive social and communications strategy that drove community engagement and fostered a sense of connection among high school students with HBCU communities. We also created a platform for present HBCU students to showcase their content creation skills by contributing to the Yard Talk brand. Thanks to our efforts, Yard Talk established itself as a trusted and influential voice in the HBCU community, attracting a diverse and engaged audience.

RESULTS (9 MONTH-TIMELINE)

  • Define the target audience: Define the ideal audience they want to attract on social media. Identified their demographics, interests, and behaviors.

  • Directed the team's social media manager on how to create content that resonates with them.

  • Audit the current social media presence: Evaluated the current state of their social media presence. Looked at the current content, engagement rate, follower count, and other metrics. Identify what's working and what's not.

  • Conduct a competitive analysis: Analyzed the social media presence of their competitors to see what's working for them. Identified the gaps and opportunities in the market.

  • Create a content strategy: Based on Yard Talks' target audience and competitive analysis, we were able to create a content strategy. Determine the types of content that they could frequently post, and the messaging they could use.

  • Optimize profiles: Ensure the Yard Talk platform was optimized with good profile pictures, descriptions, and relevant keywords. Make sure that the branding was consistent across all platforms.

  • Engage with the audience: Engage with the yard talk audience by responding to comments and messages. Start conversations and encourage interaction with your content.

  • Measure and adjust: We were able to regularly measure the yard talk social media metrics to see what was working and what was not to optimize performance and grow their following.
